Breathe Your Yoga

Hatha Yoga Practice Guidelines

1. Cause NO PAIN as you challenge yourself.

2. Pay attention to your breath; breathe through your nose.

3. Be kind and gentle with yourself:  Be comfortable and feel stable in the poses.

4. Do not eat a large meal for 2-3 hours before practicing.

5. Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing.  Barefoot is best.

6. Smile and enjoy your practice!

Yoga Class Etiquette

· Turn off your cell phone, or leave it in the car.

· Arrive at least 10 minutes before class is scheduled to start
—especially if it is your first time at a yoga establishment
—or if you have concerns to address with your teacher.

· Do not wear perfumes or strong scents to class.

· If you must leave class early, let the instructor know ahead of time and when you must,
leave as quietly as possible.

Additional Considerations

· Use props: Blankets, Belts, Blocks and Walls to assist you thru the poses.

· When inverted, inhale as you rise slowly so as to prevent causing an unpleasant dizziness.

· Drink plenty of water after class.

· If possible, take a hot bath or shower after class.

Text Box: Yoga is a Science
The purpose of yoga is to remove the root causes of pain and suffering.
Practicing Hatha Yoga will cultivate awareness of Your breath, Your movements, Your thoughts.

As I say Namaste

I bring to my heart center
The gentleness of my left hand

to equally meet the strength of my right hand,

Offering these thoughts with the spoken word as well as through the gesture:

I honor the spirit within you.
I honor the place in you where love, peace, light, and truth is.
When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me,
We are One.

Namaste.
